Downtown Texarkana at 10:00 AM The food, fun, and music begins for a celebration of the 130th anniversary of the birthday of Scott Joplin, the famous ragtime composer. Events include video screenings at Discovery Place, the Joplin Exhibit at the Texarkana Historical Museum and prize registrations with downtown merchants. Join ragtime musitions at the Joplin Mural for brunch, cake-cutting and honoring the descendants of Scott Joplin. A classical ragtime concert will be held at 7 PM at the Perot Theater, where guest pianists, Scott Kirby of New Orleans, J. Hamilton Douglas of St. Louis, and Vickie Al-Dubais of Texarkana will entertain.
