Learn the fascinating history of two state line cities. With one city in Arkansas and one in Texas, Texarkana offers more about regional history from the early Caddo people to the early 20th Century. See period rooms such as an old doctor’s office, a Victorian sitting parlor and a drugstore. And don’t miss the exhibit on native son Scott Joplin, known as the "Father of Ragtime Music." It is one of the city’s earliest buildings(1879), offering a glimpse into the area’s past through its collections and exhibits. Exhibits depict the culture of the Caddoan Indians, the founding of Texarkana in 1873, and its subsequent development through the railroad, timber, and agricultural industries. Period room displays portray the social and cultural life of this area’s settlers. Special temporary exhibits are arranged periodically on both local historical themes and topics of general interest. Hours 10-4 Tuesday thru Friday and noon to 3 Saturdays and Sundays
