The Ace of Clubs House is truly a living museum. Legend has it that entrepreneur James H. Draughon built the 22-sided house at 420 Pine Street with the winnings from a poker game and the the winning card was the Ace of Clubs. Architecturally unique, the 1885 Italianate Victorian home has a central octagonal stairhall with three octagonal wings an done rectangular wing, which gives it the distinctive shape of a playing card. Each room represents a specific period in the history of the house and reveals interesting insights into the lifestyles of the families who lived there. The house is open Tuesday-Saturday from 10am to 4pm. For more information, call. Group tours are available; last tour begins at 3pm. $5 for adults, $2.50 children, and $4.50 Senior Citizen.

See the house that Bob Vila, star of TV's hit "Home Again" series, filmed as part of a special segment on the most outstanding historic homes in the country.  The Ace of Clubs House is truly unique because of its "club-like" design.  Built in 1885, the house has four octagonal rooms that form a playing card club, since money for the home was won with a draw of the ace of clubs.  This Victorian home reflects the life of a wealthy Southern family, as seen in the fine furnishings, circa 1880 - 1940.
